From Global News.
Canada’s Conservative Party leader Pierre Poilievre criticized Prime Minister Mark Carney’s response to U.S. President Donald Trump’s decision last week to abruptly end ongoing trade negotiations with Canada.
Trump’s decision came in response to an anti-tariff ad campaign run by the Ontario government across the U.S.
“Mark Carney approved the ad, and then he claimed after the ad started running that the ad was the reason why no deal happened,” Poilievre told reporters in Ottawa on Tuesday, adding that Liberal leader was “looking for someone to blame.”
Poilievre went on to say Canada’s premiers were, “stepping up to fill the void left behind by Mark Carney’s broken promise.”
Though Ontario Premier Doug Ford promised the controversial ads would stop running on Sunday evening, British Columbia Premier David Eby said Monday that his government plans to do the same.
