Carney rejects he’s a “globalist” — a term Trump often condemns

From Global News.

Delivering a major speech at the World Economic Forum on Tuesday, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney spoke about Arctic sovereignty amid U.S. President Donald Trump’s threats to takeover Greenland. “We stand firmly with Greenland and Denmark and fully support their unique right to determine Greenland’s future. Our commitment to NATO’s Article 5 is unwavering.”

Asked about Trump’s condemnation of “globalism” and whether he’s the “epitome of a globalist” Carney replied “being detached from where you live and the broader needs of society — there is an epithet for that, I don’t know if the G-word is the one.”

Carney also described a "new world order" we’re living in now after Trump’s tariffs disrupted the previous global order. “We regret it, but we’re not going to sit around and mourn it, we’re acting.”

“We have been able to withstand the pressure — and there has been considerable pressure… We’ve actually created more jobs since the tariffs have been put on than the United States — in absolute number. Our economy is growing at the second fastest rate in the G7.”
