The Chinese commerce ministry expressed strong dissatisfaction Thursday with recent U.S. actions following President Trump’s threat of imposing 100% tariffs on Chinese exports.
"China is strongly dissatisfied with a series of U.S. actions and firmly opposes them. We hope the U.S. side would cherish the outcomes of economic and trade consultations and promptly correct its erroneous practices," Chinese commerce ministry spokesperson He Yongqian said.
Yongqian also said China will enhance the effectiveness of policies in the foreign trade sector and accused the U.S. of violating WTO rules with its new energy vehicles subsidy, which ended on September 30.
Tensions between the two nations have escalated since a September phone call between Trump and Xi Jinping.
