Could the ‘Board of Peace’ rival the UN? Fmr. Palestinian Affairs rep.: “It’s control architecture”

From DW News.

US President Donald Trump has rolled out his so-called ‘Board of Peace’ in Davos, Switzerland. Some 60 countries have been invited to join but only about half have accepted so far, according to US officials. The undecided include China, Ukraine and Russia. Europeans like France, UK, Germany, Italy, Norway, Slovenia, Sweden have rejected the board.

Trump and representatives of several other countries signed the document formally establishing the group, which he says will work ‘in conjuction’ with the United Nations. Critics are concerned it may rival the United Nations.

The ‘Board of Peace’ was originally part of his Gaza peace plan, meant to oversee the ceasefire and reconstruction of the Palestinian territory.
