Fire crews battled massive flames at a Chevron refinery just outside of Los Angeles overnight that could be seen for miles.
Officials in El Segundo, about a mile from LAX, urged people to stay indoors last night but said there was no immediate threat to public safety and didn’t order any evacuations. Chevron said there were no injuries, that all personnel were accounted for and that a monitoring system indicated the fire didn’t move beyond the facility’s fence line.
The cause of the blaze is still under investigation.
