National Defence Minister David McGuinty announced a series of investments in Ingersoll, Ont., on Wednesday as part of the Canadian Defence Industry Resilience Program.
“It’s a matter of sovereignty, of security and of identity. And it’s about jobs. Good skill jobs right here in communities like Ingersoll,” McGuinty said, “Through this program, IMT Precision will receive up to $306.4 million to build a new facility producing metal shells for 155-millimetre artillery projectiles.”
Additionally, McGuinty announced a $355.7 million investment in General Dynamics to produce nitrocellulose, $57.8 million to establish Canada’s first facility for artillery charges and $642 million to manufacture 155mm artillery rounds.
