From Global News.
A deadly fungus has been steadily making its way across North America from New York state and has now been found in the province, and it’s being called the worst-case scenario for Alberta bats.
‘White-nose syndrome’ causes the bat to come out of hibernation to fight the infection, but it depletes their fat stores – and in winter, when it’s harder to find food and water, they can starve.
As Sarah Ryan reports, the fungus is expected to do major damage to Alberta’s hibernating bat populations.
