Death of Iran’s supreme leader sparks divide across the globe

From Global News.

There is much divide across the globe this weekend after U.S. and Israeli missile strikes across Iran resulted in the death of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

Before becoming supreme leader in 1989, Khamenei served as Iran’s president since 1981 – putting him in power for more than four and a half decades.

Islamists across the Middle East mourned the loss of their Ayatollah, condemning actions by the U.S. and Israel, while Iranians abroad – who either fled or where exiled from their native land – celebrated the potential of new leadership and political landscape overall.

Though the aim of U.S. President Donald Trump’s and Israeli President Benjamin Netanyahu’s joint onslaught Saturday is clear – to pave the way for a regime change – the future of Iran and its people remains uncertain.
