Hundreds of migrant and refugee children in Mexico City shelters are participating in soccer training sessions funded by the European Union to promote social integration ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Perla Acosta, director of the civil association Mas Suenos (More Dreams), which handles the program’s technical implementation, said sport "is a tool for change, a tool for peace" that helps children develop their skills and build community.
