From DW News.
The European Union’s Executive Vice-President for Tech Sovereignty, Security, and Democracy Henna Virkkunen has announced a new strategy to counter drone threats in Europe. Speaking to DW’s Christine Mhundwa in Strasbourg, Virkkunen emphasized the need to detect and eliminate drones posing risks to European airspace and critical infrastructure. The European Commission’s plan aims to strengthen the EU’s industrial capacity, support innovation, and increase cooperation between member states to address the growing threat. Virkkunen also discussed Europe’s reliance on foreign digital services and products as a potential vulnerability, stating that this dependency could be "weaponised against us".
