Ford would use notwithstanding clause “in a heartbeat” to ensure the sex offender registry is public

From Global News.

On Monday, Ontario Premier Doug Ford lambasted the Supreme Court of Canada after it recently ruled one-year mandatory minimum jail sentences for accessing or possessing child pornography unconstitutional.

In outrage over the decision, Ford asked "…what is the Supreme Court thinking? Who are you in favor with? A bunch of diddlers that are out there pushing child porn and hanging out in neighborhoods and trying to track down young children or do you protect the victims?”

Ford insisted he would do everything in his power to ensure the sex offender registry is made public. While he doubts that the courts would allow it, he mentioned he would “use the notwithstanding clause in a heartbeat.”
