From the archives: President Obama signs repeal of “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy in 2010

On Dec. 22, 2010, President Obama signed into law a bill repealing the "don’t ask, don’t tell" policy, allowing out gay, lesbian and bisexual people to serve in the military after a 17-year ban. The policy first took effect under President Clinton in 1994 and lasted until Sept. 20, 2011. Watch the full ceremony here.
