Several BC travellers say they’ve been stranded in Puerto Vallarta for days following violence in the region, unable to secure timely flights home.
Kamloops resident Jonathan MacIntyre says he paid more than $2,200 out of pocket after being told the earliest rebooking through WestJet Vacations was March 1.
“It’s completely bonkers,” he said. Air passenger rights advocate Gabor Lukacs argues airlines must rebook customers within 48 hours, even on competitor flights, if they can’t provide their own service.
WestJet says it has added 12 flights to help guests return to Canada and advises vacation package customers to contact their provider for assistance.
