Global National: Dec. 19, 2025 | Ontario police uncover terror-related plot after failed kidnappings

Officers have arrested three men in Ontario, accused of trying to kidnap several women from the streets of Ontario. Police say the attack was motivated by hate and specifically targeted Jewish Canadians. One of the men is now charged with terrorism and was allegedly working for the Islamic State. As Touria Izri reports, the case is fuelling fears over antisemitic attacks.

President Donald Trump’s tariff threats will once again be front and centre in the New Year, as trade talks between Canada and the United States are set to resume in January. The discussions will focus on the Canada-U.S.-Mexico Free Trade Agreement – a deal that’s up for review in 2026. Mackenzie Gray reports on the uncertainty ahead of the upcoming negotiations.

The heads of the European Union are greenlighting a massive interest-free loan to Ukraine to meet its military and economic needs for the next two years. The member states have agreed to loan Ukraine 90 billion Euros but failed to bridge differences with Belgium that would have allowed them to freeze Russian assets. Redmond Shannon explains.
