Hundreds of auto workers at the General Motors (GM) assembly plant in Oshawa walked off the line for the last time on Friday, after the company made the decision to end the third shift.
The move was first announced in May 2025, with plans to shed a third of jobs originally set for November.
The company says it has a “comprehensive” package for laid off workers and is committed to its remaining operations in Oshawa.
