Gov. Josh Shapiro’s Jewish faith and leadership have always been intertwined, but perhaps never more so than after Oct. 7, 2023, the brutal attack on Israel by Hamas.

In a conversation outside Philadelphia, the Democratic governor shared how he felt in the moments after a man set his residence on fire during Passover, and how his commitment to sharing his Jewish faith connects him to his constituents.

Shapiro also discussed his new memoir, Where We Keep the Light, Department of Homeland Security actions in Minnesota and elsewhere, and whether he has his eyes on the White House in 2028.
