The iconic landscapes of the Greek island Milos are under threat from tourism. A construction site for a hotel extension has left a gaping hole in its trademark volcanic rock.
Tourism has been consistently increasing in Greece, which saw more than 40 million visitors in 2024, a figure that was likely surpassed in 2025. Although the industry benefits Milos, locals says they are experiencing a deterioration in their quality of life.
