Half bus, half ferry, what should we call this?🚍⛴️ #tech #automotive #innovation #germany

The HafenCity RiverBus is Germany’s first amphibious bus, offering unique tours in Hamburg that travel both on land and water.

Built on a MAN truck chassis with a waterproof ship hull, the vehicle can carry up to 36 passengers and uses propellers to navigate the Elbe River. The 70-80 minute tour departs from Speicherstadt, drives through historic districts, then enters the river to sail past landmarks like the Elbphilharmonie and HafenCity before returning to land.

Created by entrepreneur Fred Franken after four years of development, the bus launched in April 2016 and proved so popular that it carried over 6,000 passengers in its first two months, inspiring several other German cities to order similar vehicles.
