From Global News.
A lawsuit filed in a Yukon court pits a family of four women; who claim to be indigenous, against the head of an organization that proclaims to ‘hunt’ and expose so-called pretendians.
Crystal Semaganis, head of the Indigenous identity watchdog group, Ghost Warrior Society, says the practice "results in billions of dollars of misallocated resources from the Indigenous community each year.”
Semaganis now finds herself named in a half-million-dollar defamation suit. Plaintiffs Amanda Buffalo, her mother, and two sisters allege they were investigated by Semaganis, who concluded beyond a doubt that they were white Ukrainians. Melissa Ridgen reports.
