The Pentagon has taken the unprecedented step of designating Anthropic as a supply chain risk, a label historically reserved for foreign adversaries. The move bans U.S. military use of Anthropic’s AI models and threatens its booming enterprise business, just as the $380 billion company eyes a public offering. CEO Dario Amodei says the company will challenge the Department of Defense in court, even as the U.S. military continues to use Anthropic’s AI tools in active operations against Iran.
