Shackled by high university fees and expensive housing, they often end up working as food delivery riders to make ends meet. But the industry is often underpinned by shady practices, involving anonymous subcontractors, subpar working conditions and pay below the legal minimum wage. So far, German authorities appear to be struggling to address the problem.
