The Pentagon spent over $500 billion in fiscal year 2025, and $93 billion of that spending was in September alone.
The last month of the fiscal year for the government is September, a time when agencies across the government race to use up the rest of their annual budgets.
These spending sprees sometimes include questionable purchases, like the Pentagon’s purchase of $12,000 three-tiered fruit stands and $2 million worth of Alaskan King Crab.
