ICE shooting: Minneapolis officials want access to FBI investigation, say they have jurisdiction

From Global News.

Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty said during a press conference on Friday that her office along with the Minnesota Attorney General’s office were seeking a joint investigation with the FBI into the fatal shooting of Renee Nicole Good by a federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent.

“This is not because we have concerns about the FBI investigation,” Moriarty said adding “We are concerned about the evidence obtained in an investigation that has only been conducted at the federal level will not be shared with our office for review.”

Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey echoed those comments at a separate news conference and said “The Bureau of Criminal Apprehension at the State of Minnesota has consistently run these investigations before.” The mayor then added — trying to dampen talk about the city as a “Post apocalyptic hellscape, as a place that is dangerous.”

“Well, let me give you a statistic. 50 per cent of the shootings that have happened thus far in Minneapolis this year have been ICE. In other words, we’ve only had two shootings,” Frey said.
