Dozens of protesters turned out in Alameda, California, on Thursday to protest against the arrival of federal agents at a Coast Guard base.
 
Riot police blocked protesters in Alameda as they gathered to protest the presence of agents.
 
On Thursday, President Donald Trump said in a social media post he will not deploy federal agents to San Francisco. Hundreds of demonstrators gathered in downtown San Francisco to urge "we stay vigilant" against the Trump administration’s deployment of federal agents to Democratic-led cities.
 
"ICE, you are not welcome here. National Guard, you are not welcome here. CBP, FBI, federal badges of any kind, you are absolutely not welcome here. Not in our neighbourhoods, not in our streets, not in our workplaces, not on our buses and not on our blocks," said protester Lara Kiswani.
