“I’m angry”: Markham-Unionville residents react to MP Michael Ma switching to Liberals

From Global News.

Global News spoke to a sampling a Markham-Unionville residents on Friday morning, the day after their Member of Parliament, Michael Ma, decided to cross the floor from the Conservatives to the Liberals on Thursday.

“I’m angry,” resident Cosimo Krupi told Global News. “Let the people decide because he’s decided for the people.”

“Our riding, ahead of Michael Ma coming in, had a candidate who was pressured out from bigger powers that were just larger than him,” said resident Tom Brindley.

The floor crossing puts the Liberals at 171 seats — one short of a majority in which the Liberal Speaker of the House of Commons would vote to break any ties, and two seats short of a majority where they do not need to rely on the Speaker to vote to break ties.
