In India, the deputy chief minister of Maharashtra state has been killed in a plane crash.

Ajit Pawar was flying back to his home state in a private plane. Four others on board were killed when the jet crashed while attempting to land. It’s unclear what brought it down. Pawar was a key figure in politics, serving as the second-highest elected official of Maharashtra – India’s wealthiest state.
