While Iran’s ability to build and launch missiles can be easily targeted by U.S. and Israeli airstrikes, its capacity to make cheaper Shahed drones is distributed across smaller facilities, says Kelly Grieco, a researcher of American foreign policy at the Stimson Center in Washington, D.C. That makes the economics of a war of attrition more challenging for the U.S. and Israel.
