Israeli crews seized and bulldozed the headquarters of UNRWA, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian refugees, in East Jerusalem on Tuesday. One of Jerusalem’s deputy mayors, Aryeh King, told NPR he hopes Israel shuts down UNRWA’s Kalandia training center as well. A spokesperson for UNRWA argued that the International Court of Justice and the U.N. determined the Israeli presence in East Jerusalem is illegal and the application of Israeli law there is unlawful.
