From Global News.

Hurricane Melissa unleashed devastation in Jamaica as the strongest storm on record to hit the Caribbean island nation, and later roared into eastern Cuba.

"It was terrible… The wind. It was violent. It was terrible for all of us," one Jamaican resident said and added that he had experienced three other dangerous storms, but Hurricane Melissa was the "worst."

"I have a lot of, damage, roof has gone, clothes are wet up, and other stuff. I need some help, please," said a resident of Alligator Pond, Jamaica, who was counting the costs after hurricane Melissa battered homes.

Hurricane Melissa was a Category 5 storm with sustained winds of 185 mph when it barrelled into Jamaica, with the southern coastal area of Alligator Pond hard hit.
