Leaders of Japan and South Korea vow to cooperate on economy and regional challenges at summit

The summit between South Korea’s President Lee Jae Myung and Japan’s Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi came after Lee’s visit to Beijing earlier in the month, at a time when tensions have been running high between Beijing and Tokyo after Takaichi said a Chinese attack on Taiwan could constitute “a survival-threatening situation” for Japan requiring the use of force.
