Toronto embraced everything green on Sunday for the city’s annual St. Patrick’s Day parade.

The holiday celebrating the patron saint of Ireland falls on a Tuesday this year, but Torontonians came together a little early to toast Irish culture.

“It’s a great day for the Irish, and it’s a great day to celebrate being Irish,” one parade-goer told Global News.

As Lexy Benedict reports, it’s a celebration steeped in history.
