Former House of Commons leader Lucy Powell was elected as deputy leader of the UK’s ruling Labour Party on Saturday after defeating Education Secretary Bridget Phillipson. Powell thanked her supporters and party members, and said she is ready to work with Prime Minister Keir Starmer “for the future of the country”.
