Mounted underneath Milan’s 19th century Arco della Pace, the Olympic cauldron has proved to be a major night-time attraction for locals and tourists as they celebrate the Winter Games.

It is inspired by Leonardo da Vinci’s geometric studies, known as his "Knots" and also pays tribute to the sun. For a few weeks, two Italian cities are connected by light, history, and the Olympic spirit.
