This ancient skeleton may look like a child’s … but it’s not.
Homo floresiensis, nicknamed “hobbits,” lived on the Indonesian island of Flores and likely went extinct around 50,000 years ago. They were one of the last non-modern human species, representing a unique branch of our evolutionary family tree.
