Afghanistan’s Taliban rulers say they are willing to negotiate after Pakistan bombed cities including the capital Kabul and Kandahar. Pakistan accuses Afghanistan of harbouring militants responsible for cross-border attacks inside Pakistan. The bombing marks a major escalation of a long-running border dispute. Pakistan’s defense minister has warned the situation amounts to "open war" between the neighbors.
