“My Father’s Shadow” is the first Nigerian film to be selected at the Cannes Film Festival

From NPR.

The Nigerian film "My Father’s Shadow" premiered in Lagos last week, and could mark an important moment in the journey of Nigeria’s film industry. The film is an intimate coming of age story, showing a day in the life of two young boys and their largely absent father, together on an eventful journey to Lagos. It became the first Nigerian film to be selected at the Cannes Film Festival earlier this year and is now being shown in Nigeria, where it was met with applause and tears.
