National tribute held 1 week since the Bondi Beach mass-shooting

From Global News.

Sunday marks one week since the antisemitic Bondi Beach attack. The country held a national tribute to the 15 victims killed while celebrating the Jewish festival of Hanukkah. Amid the grief, there is also anger directed toward Australia’s prime minister.

“Australia was always the lucky country for Jews, but sadly no more," said Jewish community leader David Ossip. "We’ve lost our innocence. Last week took our innocence.”

Australia’s Prime Minister Anthony Albanese was booed as he arrived at the event, his government criticized for not doing enough to tackle a rise in antisemitism. Albanese has since ordered a review of law enforcement and intelligence agencies.

The December 14th attack was Australia’s deadliest mass-shooting in almost three decades.
