Thousands of revelers in New York welcomed 2026 with fireworks and the annual Times Square Ball Drop. The U.S. also kicked off a six-night light show at the capital’s Washington Monument on December 31 to mark the United States’ origins in 1776, as it celebrates its 250th anniversary.
