The number for Spain’s Christmas lottery jackpot was selected less than two hours after the draw began on December 22 with the top prize, known as "El Gordo" (The Fat One), mostly given in the northern region of Castille and Leon and part in Madrid. Children of San Ildefonso called out the number ‘79,432’, which awards four million-euro jackpots per series of tickets, prompting cheers and applause at Madrid’s Royal Theater.
