Tim opens up a case of toys from 1991, the same year that the World Wide Web was publicly announced!
Three inflatable toys from the Soviet Union, or Russia as it became in 1991. Tim doesn’t think he has even inflated these before today.
An elegant decoration rather like a Fabergé egg, made by a colleague of Tim’s at British Telecom (where he used to work). At the heart of the design is a real egg, probably from a goose looking at the size of it.
A whistle in the shape of the head of a wolf. There are batteries inside, and when you blow, it makes a ‘wolf whistle’. It is an electronic toy, and when you put the mouthpiece in your mouth, your saliva creates an electrical contact which makes the wolf whistle make its whistling sound.
A skill toy with spinning metal discs.
Finally, a musical toy. The figure shows the figure of a conductor. When you wave it around, you hear the notes of music! Tim reckons this is the first outing for this toy as well.
