From USA TODAY.
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth told the press that President Donald Trump "bent over backwards" for diplomacy with Iran, saying the country had "every chance" to make a deal, but claimed they were stalling to restart "their nuclear ambitions."
The United States and Israel began striking Iran on Feb. 28 in a campaign that killed the nation’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, and dozens of top officials and hit more than 1,000 targets inside the country, Trump said. Iran has retaliated with strikes against U.S. military bases, Israel and other nations in the Middle East.
