Poilievre accuses Anandasangaree of “playing politics with guns” over leaked recording

From Global News.

During question period on Monday, Conservative Party leader Pierre Poilievre criticized Canada’s Public Safety Minister, Gary Anandasangaree, following the release of an audio recording by The Canadian Coalition for Firearm Rights. In the recording, Anandasangaree suggests that an acquaintance shouldn’t worry about being arrested due to the limited resources of municipal police.

Poilievre slammed the minister, asking, "Why is this minister caught on tape playing politics with guns?" He accused Anandasangaree of admitting that the gun control efforts are "a waste of money" and would "go over budget." He added, "Why is it that Liberals only tell the truth when they don’t think anyone is listening?"

In response, Anandasangaree defended his statements as "misguided" and claimed the recording was made without his knowledge.

The recording also includes Anandasangaree saying the latest phase of a federal firearm buyback program will be announced tomorrow.
