From Global News.
Opposition Leader Pierre Poilievre urged Prime Minister Mark Carney to act on immigration policy during question period on Tuesday. Poilievre blamed the "Liberal open border” policy for the recent shootings at Toronto synagogues and asked Carney what he will do to restore “the safety that Canadians had before his Liberal government took office.”
Carney defended his government’s immigration and border policies, saying; “This government has banned the Islamic Guard, this government has sanctioned over 200 individuals and 200 Iranian entities, this government is investigating over 17,000 individual cases. We are protecting this country with 1000 more RCMP, 1000 more border guards.”
Carney also highlighted Poilievre’s voting record on gun control policy, saying he has “voted against every single gun control measure ever put before this house.”
Poilievre dismissed the claim, suggesting liberal legislation has doubled gun crime and that “the prime minister is more worried about protecting turkeys from hunters than he is about protecting synagogues from terrorists.”
