Poland to withdraw from landmine ban treaty, defence minister says

From Global News.

Poland tested drones, counter-drone systems and unmanned combat vehicles in Zielonka as its defence minister announced plans to withdraw from the Ottawa Convention, the treaty banning anti-personnel landmines.

Defence Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz said the decision is tied to the country’s accelerated military buildup amid heightened security concerns in Europe.

“The enemy is very dangerous… every hour, every second, every minute and every day cannot be wasted,” he said.

He added that new defence contracts are expected to be finalized this year and next, with equipment deliveries scheduled by 2030.
