Polish farmers block major highways to protest the upcoming signing of a trade deal between the EU and South American bloc Mercosur. The EU-Mercosur deal would create the world’s biggest free-trade area and help the 27-nation bloc to export more goods to Latin America at a time of global trade tensions. Many farmers, however, fear it will flood the market with cheaper alternatives and cause untold damage to their livelihoods.
