Russia and Ukraine exchanged 157 prisoners of war each on Thursday in a deal mediated by the United Arab Emirates and the United States, officials said.

Ukraine said the swap included both military personnel and civilians, with 139 of those freed held in captivity since 2022.

Russia said three civilians from the Kursk region were also returned as part of the exchange, while ten Russian civilians remain in Ukraine.
