From Global News.
The Rafah crossing connecting Egypt and Gaza partially reopened on Monday after nearly two years of largely being shut down due to the Israel-Hamas war.
As the ongoing ceasefire enters its second phase, the sole exit for many Palestinians in Gaza has opened – at least with strict limitations – allowing for humanitarian aid to enter, and for citizens to leave for medical treatment.
Patiently awaiting this day, thousands of Palestinians registered with the World Health Organization to receive medical aid abroad. At least 20,000 Palestinians, including children and cancer patients, are awaiting evacuation, according to Gaza’s health ministry.
Footage captured Red Crescent volunteers transporting Palestinians to the border, as humanitarian aid trucks entered the war-torn enclave.
