Rep. LaMonica McIver (D-NJ) revisited the Delaney Hall ICE facility in Newark, NJ for an oversight visit after the death of Jean Wilson Brutus who earlier this month after being taken into custody.
“What we saw inside was horrible.”
McIver expressed her concerned for the lack of mental health resources for individuals in the facility and how women expressed there was not access to feminine products.
This was McIver’s first visit to the detention center since a June altercation that led to federal charges, alleging she impeded and interfered with immigration officers. The charges have yet to be dropped.
