Rubio offers reassuring tone, one year after JD Vance blasted allies at Munich Security conference

From Global News.

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio offered a more reassuring message to America’s allies at the Munich Security Conference, while making it clear that Washington still wants change to the transatlantic relationship.

Rubio’s address came a year after U.S. Vice President JD Vance stunned the same audience with a harsh critique of European values.

Rubio also gave an update on peace negotiations in the war in Ukraine. “We don’t know if the Russians are serious about ending the war,” Rubio said.

He added, “What we can’t answer, and we’re going to continue to test, is whether there is an outcome that Ukraine can live with and one that Russia is willing to accept.”
