From Global News.

Shoppers have gone bananas for an IKEA orangutan plush toy after a baby Japanese macaque went viral after adopting one as its “mother.”
Punch, a seven-month-old Japanese macaque was abandoned by its mother at the Ichikawa City Zoo.

The zoo quickly swung into action, experimenting with a number of substitutes before settling on the orange orangutan stuffed toy sold by the Swedish furniture brand IKEA.

Baby Japanese macaques typically cling to their mothers, both to build muscle strength and for a sense of security.

The stuffed orangutan has been sold out at a number of IKEA locations around the world, including two in Vancouver, B.C.
